Casterra privacy notice

Version 0.1 · October 2026
Draft for the beta. Written in plain English for testing and still to be checked by someone legally qualified. If anything here worries you, ask before you sign up.

This explains what personal information Casterra holds, why, and your rights. Casterra is run by SJ Construction Services (Stephen Jones).

Two roles

Your firm's account (your name, email, login activity): we're the controller. What your firm puts in (staff, clients, subcontractors, site sign-ins, accident records): your firm is the controller and we process it on your firm's instructions.

What's held

Names, job titles, work contact details, site addresses, tickets and qualifications, emergency contacts, site sign-ins, photos and documents uploaded, accident and incident records, payment applications and invoices, and a log of changes made in Casterra (who, what, when, from which internet address). Accident records can include health information; please only record what you need.

Why

To run Casterra for your firm (performing our agreement with your firm), to keep it secure and fix faults (our legitimate interests), and where the law requires it.

Where it's kept and who else sees it

On servers in the UK or EU with encrypted connections (HTTPS) and nightly encrypted backups. Some features send content to service providers to do the job: Anthropic (AI reading of documents you choose to read with AI), Open-Meteo (site weather, by postcode location only), postcodes.io (finding a site from its postcode) and Companies House (checking a subcontractor's company). They don't get your whole account. We don't sell personal information.

How long

While your firm uses Casterra. When a firm leaves, its data is deleted within 30 days and backups roll off within a further 14 days, unless the law requires something to be kept longer.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, object to how it's used, or ask for a copy. If it's your employer's or contractor's records, ask them first; we'll help them. Contact: steve@sjconstructionservices.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
